What else does the Centre do?

Law Reform and Legal Policy Procedures

The Centre writes submissions and runs campaigns to lobby for unfair laws and practices to be reformed.  The Centre conducts law reform work to address problems with, public housing and tenancy law, Social Security law, disability discrimination law, and the way the law administered and the many inadequacies and inequities that are part of the system.

Law reform work uses a variety of different approaches to achieve the reform required, this can include but is not limited to; test cases, submissions and community development strategies.

The Centre also works in partnership, through its membership, including but not limited to the following networks and forums;

 

·        National Welfare Rights Network (NWRN),

  

·        National Association of Community Legal Centres,

 

·        ACT Community Legal Centre’s,

 

·        Australian Legal Advice Forum, and

 

·        ACT Free Legal Advice Forum.

 

These fora collectively contribute to law and policy reforms at a national and state level.
